I also hadn't originally noticed the nursery rhyme comparison you made in your analysis, but upon reading your opinion, i returned to the text and was able to understand where you're coming from with your opinion.Fermin Sierrahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04876654440047134759noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6299292801138212390.post-40293598188041306542010-02-17T23:24:08.197-08:002010-02-17T23:24:08.197-08:00Your analysis was fascinating. I hadn't thought of the nursery rhyme aspect before, and it certainly adds to the poem. It perpetrates even further this child's innocence in his world of horror.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02191115132077869242noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6299292801138212390.post-81789902939674375862010-02-17T22:57:00.864-08:002010-02-17T22:57:00.864-08:00I think your analysis is interesting and thoroughl...I think your analysis is interesting and thoroughly consistent. You highlighted something I was only vaguely aware of - the likeness to a child's nursery rhyme. But perhaps it isn't simply meant to "disguise" the situation's ugliness, at least, not from the reader. Biology commands us to love our parents unconditionally at a very early age, especially since a child has no inherent frame of reference for an ideal father. Perhaps in a sick way, this is a waltz for the child - he or she is unable to distinguish it as anything else.CLTurnerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07150179147939046717noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6299292801138212390.post-31687574331510379302010-02-17T22:20:42.559-08:002010-02-17T22:20:42.559-08:00I found your analysis interesting because I took t...I found your analysis interesting because I took the clinging to your shirt and hung on like death lines a little differently. I kind of took them not as literally and more like he was hanging on to his last bit of life and clutching to stay up. both seem reasonable to meJesse McGrathhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03301339309039105011noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6299292801138212390.post-1188668714578314472010-02-17T20:27:48.724-08:002010-02-17T20:27:48.724-08:00Yeah I also got really sad thinking about how he s...Yeah I also got really sad thinking about how he still clings to the shirt, most likely just praying for it to be over.WShttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15749275587323363378noreply@blogger.com
